India’s prolific opening batsman, Virender Sehwag, has made it clear that he does not intend to change his natural game as long as the captain and the team management are happy with his performances in international cricket.
The 33-year-old cricketer is one of those very few batsmen in the modern-day sport who are equally effective in all formats without changing their game too much.
Sehwag has one of the most astonishing scoring-rate in international cricket and there is hardly any batsman who can match his brilliance. The stylish batsman scores 152.46 and 104.60 runs per 100 balls in T20s and One Day International
(ODI) cricket respectively. The most attractive thing about Sehwag however, is his strike-rate in Test cricket, which is more than 82 at the present moment.
He became the only batsmen in the Indian cricket history to have scored a triple-century in Test cricket, when he smashed a strong http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819. The stroke-maker followed it up with another one in 2008, when he
scored 319 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at Chennai, which remains his highest Test score.
On top of that, Sehwag holds the record of most number of runs in an ODI innings, having scored 219 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 last year.
The good news for cricket fans is that Sehwag is not prepared to cut down on his shots as long as the aggression is benefiting the team.
"Most of the times (when) I throw my wicket away, be it a limited-overs game or a Test match, I go over the top trying to hit a four or a six, mistimed it and get out. That’s my game. As long as my team and the coach are happy with
how I play, I don’t have any problems with getting out like that", he said.
However, the opener is of the view that there are other Indian batsmen who can hit the ball better than him.
The former Indian captain added, "There are a lot of players who are better (hitters) than me. In my team, there’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 and they hit the ball harder than I do."
