He has performed well in the last series, so I feel that he should be given a fair chance to be a part of the Indian squad, for the next few series that are going to be held. If he performs consistently well, then there is absolutely no reason to drop him. But if he fails to prove himself in the following matches, he should indeed be dropped to provide opportunities to the other players. But Sehwag should be dropped only on the basis of performance, and not according to the whims of the selectors. He has an agressive temperament, and has the ability to take on the opposition bowlers, and that's very important for the team. When he is in touch, he can score faster than any other Indian batsmen. and atleast one such big hitter gives a psychological advantage to the team.

In my opinion India should try Gambhir and Kaif as new opening pair in test. Kaif is not opener but he has good technic to do this job like Mackenzie(he is a middle order batsman).

It might be the greatest riddle the Indian selectors face.

He is not at all consistent.

He keeps on scoring ducks and in the single digits before once in a blue moon he wins the team a match.

With his extra help in being a part-time spinner, that too a good one, I think he could remain.

India has been playing test match cricket since 1932. About 260 players played test match cricket for India in these 75 years. IMO, there are just 4 test match players who are better than Sehwag in batting. They are: Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Hazare, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. No other batsman can be considered better than Sehwag.

In ODI, Sehwag was good enough to play for India as there are just about 10 batsmen better than Sehwag. They are: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni, Dravid, Sidhu, Srikkanth, Azharuddin and Vengsarkar. No other ODI batsman is better than Sehwag.

Why do you get such thoughts about a batsman who scored not one but two triple centuries for his team ?

Why Not? Look is average. Last match against Australia, he made 100 + & saved the game. If Vuvi can get the spot then Viru must be there. Dhoni, check is nos, When he made 100 & 50 last time? Viru is a good parttime bowler, his 3 wkts in the last game turned the table when our regular spinner Chawal was failed!

So be fair & balance , & keep the standard for selection same for all...

Yes, he should be in the team but should simultaneously work on his fitness as well as his batting. He is a splendid aggressive player.

Yes. He is capableof demoralising any bowling attack in form and win the matches on his own when he is in form.  Besides his batting, he can be used as a part time bowler too.
