  1. I bet the only fight most people ever saw Virgil Hill in was against Roy Jones, which has to be the most spectacular body shot KO ever....it was a RIGHT hook to the ribs...absolutely one of the most unique KOs I've seen in boxing, nevermind that it was for a world title.

Sorry, got off-track.  Based on the trouble Hopkins gave Calzaghe basically throwing 10 punches a round, I think Hill would take a decision from him, Hill wouldn't be backed up like Hopkins and was the naturally bigger guy.

  2. i believe that hill was that much sharper, so i pick quicksilver by decision.

  3. Virgil Hill was the greatest LH ever...well, ok, maybe he was a slap-hitter that fought handpicked opponents and never fought outside of his hometown until he fought, and lost to, Hearns in Vegas, then Roy Jones.

D'OH!  Calzaghe is the same guy!  Except the fighting a Hearns type (today that would be Pavlik) or a Jones type (doesn't exist).   It's weird how similar these 2 are, but Virgil Hill would beat him easily by decision in a slap-fest.    But Calzaghe hasn't fought the quality of opponent Virgil Hill has, which is saying something.

VERY interesting Q, hadn't thought about Hill much in years, Roy Jones made us all forget about him.
