What does a crew schedule typically look like for a cabin crew member, how many days off after a New York flight? How long are the layovers on the long haul flights? Can you fly part time?

  1. You are subjected to do as much or more that what the pilots do.

Depending on the Seating of the Aircraft, that determines how many hours you are subjected to work on the flights and how many hours duty time.

EX. a 19 seater demands at least one Cabin crew. and 57 seater needs to have at least 2 because its over 19 and once over 50 then it demands 2. For every 50 seates over 50 (min. for 1 Crew member) it demands 1 extra crew member on board.

Now the flight crew would be expected to fly up to 3 routes or not more than 8 hours a day if there is no 'dead head' (standby pilots in the jump seats or pilots sitting in first class) flight crew. If there is a Dead head then they can fly up to 12 hours. 2 Dead heads and they can work up to 14 hours of duty time.

So in other words, the crew members will be on call for 14 hours.

The pilots need to rest for at least 8 hours . So expect to have one day off after one flight. so 3-4 days a week of work sounds ok.

A low cost carrier and you may be in for a hard long month.

Airlines vary there requirements for the crews but still follow the regulations for crews. So if the airlines is loaded with workers then it should be easy.

  2. I went to LA on a Friday once, I had the same crew on the flight back to London on the Snday night.
