Virgin Racing Team driver Timo Glock: Spa is one of my favourite races – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team driver Timo Glock has said that Spa-Francorchamps is one of his favourite races in Formula 1.
Glock also mentioned that he is very excited for the next round of the 2011 F1 season and that he is looking forward to the Belgium Grand Prix after coming back from the one-month break.
Talking to reporters, Glock said, “After the back-to-back races of Germany and Hungary it was really nice to have a break and relax, but now I can’t wait for the second part of the year. To come back racing in Spa is a perfect way to pick up the rest of
the season. It’s one of my favourite races.”
He added, “The track is very fast and long, with some very tricky corners, so any small mistake ruins the lap. The weather is often a factor, especially due to its changeable conditions. Rain can come very quickly here, but this is part of the thrill of racing
here.”
The team driver stated that he felt really nice to have a break after back-to-back races of Germany and Hungary in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Apart from that, the Dinnington-based outfit driver discussed the Spa circuit and added that the track has high-speed straights and well-known turns. He said that any mistake during the Belgian GP can ruin the race due to the circuit’s nature.
The German has failed to deliver a strong performance on the grid in the 2011 F1 season so far. He seems to make improvements in terms of performance from the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. Since that time, he did not face any problem during his races. The 29-year-old
driver showed good reliability in the last few races of the ongoing season.
In the 2011 Hungarian GP weekend, the team driver was quite slow on the racetrack. He came at the 17th place in the final race classifications after struggling a lot at the Hungaroring race circuit.
Let’s see how he performs in the 12th round of the season, which will be held on August 28, 2011 in Belgium.
