F1 Virgin Racing Team hoping for a significant upgrade at Turkish Grand Prix
Virgin Racing Team is hoping to bring in some major upgrades for its new car at the Turkish Grand Prix. The team believes that it is going to be a big step forward for them despite the fact that these upgrades will benefit Timo Glock’s car only.
The team became a part of the sport last year and since then, they have been unable to secure a single point. Virgin Racing Team had another disappointing start to this year but according to their team boss, John Booth, they are hoping to boost their performance
and they are now going to approach their development from a new direction.
“By our own admission it's been a difficult start to the year, but we actually started doing something about that when we realised back in testing that we had not met our targets”, Booth said.
He added that the team has been working very hard in order to boost its performance since February and now he believes that the team is finally going to get the result of all of that hard work at the Turkish Grand Prix.
“The extent of our upgrade package for the start of the European season is significant to say the least. Aerodynamically it's a new direction for us and we're hopeful that it will help us start to turn the corner, although with such a major step it may take
us some time to tune it to the racetrack”, he added.
Other than that, the team boss revealed that Jerome d’Ambrosio is going to have to wait until the next race, which is going to take place in Spain in order to get his hands on the upgraded version of the team’s new car, as the upgrades will only be applied
on Timo's car.
Booth stated that the team is mindful that each person in the team should have taken a step forward in his own respective field before the beginning of the European phase of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team has been performing much better than Hispania Racing Team (HRT) up until now but it seems that they are trying their best to compete alongside Team Lotus as well this year unlike the 2010 Formula 1 season.
