Virgin Racing Team not denying Silverstone headquarters rumours – Formula 1 news
Recent reports have revealed that Virgin Racing Team might build their headquarters at Silverstone and the team is not denying these rumours either.
VRT president Graeme Lowdon recently revealed that the team does not have any sort of short term planning yet but they are looking for a location for their headquarters which they plan to build soon.
“There is no big change in the short term. We have got a couple of guys looking at where the best location would be in the long run. On the basis that this will be a new facility, this is not something you necessarily want to rush into. They have got to
find the right place because it will be a big investment. I don't expect there to be a decision on that too quickly,” he said.
The team currently does not have a proper headquarter for itself and they are operating from the Manor headquarters in Dinnington, South Yorkshire but since they obtained Nick Wirth’s technical facility for Formula 1 at Banbury, it seems that their condition
as a team is improving.
These rumours started off after Lowdon revealed that the team is trying its best to build a factory where all the departments of the team will work under one roof as a result of which the development process would become more reliable and quicker.
Other than that, the team was seen with the bosses of Silverstone discussing something which is believed to be about the new work site for their new factory according to some rumours.
VRT are currently one of the back-running teams of the sport and apparently, they are struggling to compete alongside their rivals, Team Lotus. However, their performance is improving and they are trying their best to ascend rather than descend in the sport.
The team is yet to score its first points in Formula 1 as they struggled throughout the 2010 Formula 1 season and the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season is not different either in terms of statistics.
