Virgin Racing Team not getting rid of Jerome d’Ambrosio – Formula 1 news
According to some recent reports, it was revealed that Jerome d’Ambrosio of Virgin Racing Team is about to leave the team. These rumours were recently rejected by VRT and they claim that they are willing to keep both of their drivers in the team for the
2012 Formula 1 season as well.
VRT president Graeme Lowdon stated that the young Belgian driver has finished all nine races of the season and produced some very good results for the team as a result of which there is no reason to get rid of him.
“I spoke to Jerome's manager at Silverstone and that is simply not the case. We are happy with the guys we have got and it would be nice to continue with the same line up next year,” he said.
The team signed Timo Glock for the 2011 Formula 1 season but still the team has not been able to score its first points in the sport. VRT have been improving massively though as they are now closer to Team Lotus than they were ever before.
“We are extremely happy with the drivers we have got and we have no plans to change it,” he added. “It is not unusual to chop and change your drive line up quite a bit but we have got two guys who are really good.”
In order to maintain this improvement trend, the team is now ready to sign a new deal with d’Ambrosio according to his manager and Lotus Renault GP principal Eric Boullier.
Other than that, Lowdon added that the team wants to keep Glock for the 2012 Formula 1 season but he has not confirmed whether he wants to stay at the team or not.
The team is quite pleased with the German’s performance as well and since they recently inked a deal with McLaren for developmental assistance, they are hoping for some major improvements in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
