Virgin Racing Team says Timo Glock must stay with them until 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team have said that they want their driver Timo Glock to stay with them until the end of the 2012 season, as they believe he can get good results from his races for the team.
The Virgin-Cosworth team informed that they will enter in a wind tunnel programme during the summer holidays of the 2011 Formula 1 season. They believe after going through the McLaren wind tunnel, their MVR-02 car will be able to perform well on the grid
for the rest of this season.
Glock said that he is not satisfied as well as happy with the working of his car in the season so far. He added that he made a lot of struggle during the initial races of this season, but the car was not supportive for him and he could not make an impressive
run on the grid due to that.
The German said, “Unfortunately we have the two week summer break coming up, where the factories are closed. Maybe we'll do something for Singapore. This is still not decided.”
Glock went on to mention, “Only if we find something in the straight line testing or the wind tunnel that can be a big step forward without much effort, we will act now. Otherwise, I do not expect any big jumps (this year. Our direct competition, unfortunately,
is already far ahead.”
The team driver is hopeful for the Singapore Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on September 25, 2011. He hoped to show a strong performance in Singapore after the McLaren wind tunnel programme.
In addition, he said that he is sure they can score decent points for the Virgin team over there.
The 29-year-old driver had a poor race weekend in Europe, as he was unable to score any points for the team. In the morning Friday free practice session of the British Grand Prix, he finished his run at the 21st place ahead of Hispania Racing
Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi.
After the first practice session of the British Grand Prix, Virgin are ready to take part in the afternoon practice session at the Silverstone racetrack later on Friday. Let’s see how they fare in it.
