Question:

Virgin or Qantas?

With Virgin launching a new international airline, V Australia, to cover the trans-pacific route, Australians won't have to rely just on Qantas anymore. But I'm wondering if Virgin's Intn flights are any good? Anyone flown with them overseas?

  1. I'm not Australian - but can say, I've tried them both and can't complain

  2. Australians have never had to rely on just Qantas for international flights. Emirates, Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Japan, China, etc.. All fly to Australia.

Not to forget Jetstar does international flights. I would expect Virgin international to offer much the same discounted service as they do domestically, with meals available to purchase, limitted movies and pay for earphones, etc.. More reliable then Jetstar.

  3. Yeh why would you want to stay with a Virgin? rofl! XD

  4. V Australia will have nothing to do with the current International airlines that Virgin owns (like Pacific Blue ect). From what I hear, they will be running it in an Virgin Atlantic style.

It will be good though. Prices should drop and Air New Zealand will drop their prices too, especially if V Australia starts up flights from NZ-USA!

  5. why would you want to stay a virgin?

  6. Ive only flown Virgin domestically in Australia and USA and I can tell you their ok. You cannot compete with Qantas and the service they offer. Qantas is totally on a different level compared to Virgin. I frequently fly from Australia to USA  and i used to fly Qantas as they were direct and worth the fare. But with all the airfares being so expensive now and so many competitive cheaper airlines offering just as good service i guess its up to the individual on what they prefer. Lately I have been flying Jetstar to Honolulu and then catching a cheap fligght to SFO. So for just over $1000 i get a return airfare which is great compared to the price you pay for the other airlines. I would indeed myself like to try the Virgin international long haul flights. I guess try it the first time then you will know from then onwards what you prefer. Goodluck!
