Virgin plus box & standard box help!?

Question

I've recently had virgin media installed, however the virgin plus box doesn't work (i'm in the process of speaking with the VM support team). They now say that they need to put a new cable down to my house because the signal is too weak. However I've tried the standard box at the same point and it works - does anyone know if the plus box needs a stronger signal to work or if (as I see it) that the plus box is actually broken! Thanks.

It's possible it's the cable. I'd harangue them until they send an engineer out.
