Virginia car accident, no car insurance (accident not my fault)?

I was involved in a car accident yesterday that was by no means my fault. The other car lost control, hit one car and then that second car hit me on my back driver door. The crazy driver then caused a 12 car pile up on the interstate. I know I am wrong for not having car insurance (my last one was cancelled due to my financial state while I was in school) but I am just wondering what are some possibilities of what can happen? The police officers said we might not hear anything until next week.

The worst that could happen to you is that you could be cited for driving without insurance.  Since you are not at fault you can file a claim with the offender's insurance company and hope that you get paid.

you shouldnt be driving without insurance its just like driving drunk...noone can save your *** when something happens.

Whenever you obtain or cancel a liability policy, or add or remove a vehicle from a policy, the insurance company notifies DMV immediately. Why take chances? Get insurance on your vehicle before you register it.

From the moment you register your vehicle to the day the registration period expires, your vehicle must be covered by a liability policy issued by an insurance company licensed to do business in Virginia - even if the vehicle is not working or not being used.
