Virginia speeding ticket?

I just got a speeding ticket for 16 over (81 in a 65) in Chesterfield County...does anybody know how much this ticket will cost? It's reckless (reckless is 15 & over)...first offense...but I'm 17.

Please help!!

  1. In Virginia you can get a reckless driving ticket for 20 over the speed limit or in excess of 80mph regardless of the speed limit. Reckless driving charge is rather serious in Virginia. It is not a traffic infraction like a normal speeding ticket, reckless driving is a class 1 misdemeanor criminal offense and a conviction of this will give you a criminal record. I recommend you hire and attorney.  If you don't have the money for an attorney, go get your speedometer calibrated.  If it is off by at least one MPH (ie speedo shows 10mph when you are actually going 11mp) it will help you get it reduced to speeding. Either way, best thing you can do is consult with an attorney.
