Virginie Lagoutte-Clement shines in UniCredit Ladies German Open
Virginie Lagoutte-Clement led the UniCredit Ladies German Open after posting a nine under par 63 in the second round, on Friday, May 20. The player equaled the course record at Golf Park Gut Hausern near Munich, as she secured a five-shot lead for herself.
The 32-year-old surprised everyone as he was seven under par after nine holes as she tied the Ladies European Tour’s all-time record.
Lagoutte-Clement started on the back nine and played decently as she birdied the 10th and 17th hole. Waiting two hours due to lightning in the area, the French lady was eager to get back on the course. Coming on the course on and initiating
her front nine, the player really brought a storm of her own.
Lagoutte-Clemente started by making two back to back birdies on hole number one and two. Birdying another pair of birdies on the fifth and sixth hole, the player shot an amazing eagle on Par-4, 7th hole and made another birdie on the eight hole.
The player finished the day at fifteen under par over all, after a par finish at the last hole.
"I'm very tired," said an exhausted but elated Lagoutte-Clement as she stepped out of recording at approximately 8pm."I played very good and my putting was great. I had only 23 putts. I made an eagle after the storm and put a shot in from 88 metres so it
was magic. Tomorrow I will do the same as yesterday and try to play my best."
Having a very strong lead, the player is being trailed by first round leader Becky Morgan, Minea Blomqvist from Finland and the Italian Diana Luna. The trio are at ten under par overall and have to really work hard in order to win in the last two rounds.
Blomqvist, who won the tournament twice, didn’t play that well but she still managed a decent round of 67, The player said that she was nervous during the second round but seeing how she was playing before, this round was comparatively better.
All in all, with just two more rounds remaining, The Ladies German Open is an interesting tournament to follow.
