Question:

Virginity Tests at school- good or bad idea?

Do you think obligatory virginity tests for girls (aka hymen tests) is a good idea? How do you anti-feminists feel about it? I myself am not a feminist and I think it might be a good idea. Now I am talking about girls aged 13 to 18. It's not about parents disowning their daughter if she becomes pregnant. Don't misunderstand me. I believe that s*x is an adult thing and as long as the daughters live with their parents the parents have the right to know what they are doing. s*x can cause a lot of problems and the best prevention is abstinence until marriage. I don't like the idea of teenagers suffering from HIV and AIDS only because of curiosity to try out s*x.

  1. It's a horrible idea. The school has no right to know whether or not their students are virgins. And for that matter, neither do parents, unless she gets knocked up or sick from it. My parents still think I'm a virgin (I'm 18) and I would never tell them the truth.

  2. Ain't the test thing like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted????????? How about a bit of sane education about risk and choice????????

  3. Abstinence is a good idea, but it's not very likely. It's better to give these girls all the resources and facts to keep them safe, but let them make their own decisions.

And I have a question: What (other than checking for a hymen) is a virginity test supposed to do? I don't understand how knowing that aids girls at all.

  4. This is the absolute worst idea I've heard suggested. Truly terrible. I'm almost impressed.

I agree with everyone on this board, except (as usual) 1stClass.

This is a remarkable invasion of privacy. Ref*ckingdiculous. I wouldn't be moved to curse but must in order to convey the fullness of my utter disgust at the concept.

    Anyway.

The best and most legal way to discourage STDs and HIV and unwanted pregnancies is EDUCATION. Real, honest s*x EDUCATION.

Not a throwback from the ******* Middle Ages.

  5. I think it's an outrageously stupid idea that would cause all kinds of trouble.

The most obvious and non-contraversial reason is that not all virgins have an intact hymen, and there are all kinds of sexual behaviours that could spread STDs that wouldn't break an intact hymen if there were one. Therefore, no reliable information would be obtained.

I find the idea offensive for other reasons, but there's not much point arguing about whether it's ethical to obtain information that can't be obtained anyway.

  6. You can't test for virginity-- some women are born with a barely-there hymen or break it playing sports, fingering themselves, etc.  The absence of a hymen is no indication of sexual activity.

In a few countries/regions/cultures, these women would have to get hymen repair surgeries to pass such tests.  Barbaric.

The fact that you don't know this explains why you're ignorant enough to think such an invasion of privacy and bodily space could be a good idea.

  7. Now you really sound like a man! C'mon, we know you are really.

Anyway such tests would be inaccurate seeing as the hymen breaks for other reasons. And forcing teenage girls to undergo such tests sounds like the idea of a paedophile.

  8. Speaking as a teacher, I would campaign violently against it for any number of reasons, not least:

    Privacy issues

    Human rights issues

The innaccuracy of Hymen tests is at best questionable

    Social issues

Anyone who suggests doing this at my school had better be prepared to get knee-capped!  And I am a bloke!

  9. No.

The government and schools are not supposed to know that, they are public institutions and they are supposed to protect privacy of the students.

Even tho it's not a good thing, it's their own choice and they do whatever they want, chances are that the parents already now it and that the girl is  going to be in serious trouble with the parents and friends.

I'm catholic, and i don't like fornication, but it's still people's choice and that's a hughe invasion to privacy, that will not do any good and will be kinda expensive for the goverment..

And anyway....what would a not-so smart girl who doesn't want the test? Skip school or don't go to it...or choose other school...it would be like a nightmare for people who don't want the test.....pre-marital s*x is bad.....but so it is to invade people's lifes...it's their private life.

  10. As long as the tests are done in private without anyone else around then great.

If they are going to do the tests in public such as the auditorium or gymnasium with other people around then no way because people deserve respect to their privacy not have their space invaded by others.

  11. I've never heard of such a thing happening since I leafed through the Old Testament. Sounds horribly invasive to me. I hope nothing like this is ever done in modern society.

  12. Absolutely not.  Whether a girl is a virgin or not or whether she has s*x or not should be UP TO HER, and is none of her parents' business unless she decides to tell them.  Sexual experimentation is an important part of a healthy adolescence and parents should not squash that.  Rather than trying to prevent their kids from doing what is natural, they should instead inform them of the risks and teach them everything they need to know about safe s*x, contraceptives, etc.

  13. That is bordering on sexual assault.

  14. My friend lost her virginity to a bicycle seat.

I lost my virginity to a Tampax tampon.

There is no scientific evidence for this "testable virginity" malarky; do some research please.

How do you plan to test boys, anyway?

"What's sauce for the goose...", right?

Its obvious you are about 10 years old and live surrounded by hate-mongering bible-thumpers.   Please get an education otherwise you will grow up to be as foolish as they are.  This need NOT be a permanent condition.

I hope you get the help you need to overcome this disadvantage.

    -- Good luck.

  15. Normally I am all for the management of teenagers.  They are not mature enough to manage themselves in almost all cases, but even I have to admit that your idea of virginity testing" is a little beyond my idea of what is acceptable.

I don't have a problem with chastity belts or using drugs to inhibit teenage sexual urges.  But virginity testing doesn't sit right with me.

  16. Feminists and non-feminists alike should feel the same about such a disgusting proposition.

It's a horrible and invasive procedure, which can produce no conclusive results. The hymen can be broken or torn by gymnastics, riding a horse or bike etc, etc.

    What a stupid proposal.

  17. Yes, and all politicians should have to submit to honesty tests, and all preachers should have to submit to monogamy tests, and all used car salesmen should have to submit to carbon monoxide tests ... puh ..leeeease!

To quote you : "I myself am not a feminist ..."

    No surprise there.

    Cheers :-)

  18. Social interference in biological process development is a perversion of trust.

  19. no.. that is a horrible idea.

i think that BEFORE we need virginity tests, we need manditory drug tests.

AND... why should ONLY girls have to be tested as virgins.. why not boys? that is bull**it

  20. I think it is a horrible violation of their privacy. Just because my daughters live with me doesn't give me or anyone else the right to check their private parts. I haven't seen them naked since they were little girls and I don't want to.

  21. Sounds quite embarrassing and unnecessary to me. Surely this isn't a matter for schools to deal with. s*x education is all well and good so young people understand the risks, but I find the idea of all girls having to undergo an inspection like this to be fairly troubling. If I were a father I would not expect it of my daughter, I would try to teach her the values I believe in ... one of which is your right to privacy about personal matters.

  22. i was a virgin until i was 19. I know that i would have been upset if someone asked to give me one of those tests even though i would have passed! also how often would you give those? randomly in middle schools & high schools? depending on how it was handled, i would think the girls would feel violated if they had to do one every year. what if a girl was molested when she was younger & never told anyone? what happens to the girls that dont pass? what about the girls who are having "s*x" with other girls? they can still spread diseases but pass the virginity test.,

    no go!

  23. I am not sure if you are serious about this, but this is SUCH a ridiculous idea. Sure, most teenagers are too irresponsible to be having s*x, but this is far from being the solution. It's a huge invasion of privacy, very humiliating, and obviously it would be very embarrasing. I can't even find words to describe how ridiculous this is. I hope you are not being serious.

Quick question - how old are you?

  24. What would be the point in that? Seriously, who cares if they are virgins or not. How would YOU feel if someone imposed a virginity test on you?

Besides, what are they gonna do? Punish those who fail the test? That's just dumb and an invasion of privacy in my book.

  25. That's an invasion of privacy.  Think of how degrading that will be to the girl who is having that performed on her; let along giving the implication that she is not trusted.  Tell you what let's skip this and have, God willing, good talks with our daughters and explain these things to them; not to resort to humiliation.

  26. What a horrifying thought!

If anyone in any school for any reason even suggests that any of my children should take off their clothes for any reason other than to shower after gym I'm burning that F...ers house down.

  27. no.girls should have s*x at whatever age they want ..whether that at 12 13 14 i doesnt matter as long as their not forced into it.

  28. It is impossible to tell if a person is a virgin or not, even for gynos.

Many women are born without hymens, or break them from sports, horseback riding, or falling down.

You say, "It's not about parents disowning their daughter"-- what the **** do you THINK will happen with certain parents?

I know-- or, I hope-- you're a troll, but you are downright evil.

  29. If anyone tried giving my daughter a "virginity test" at school I'd protest with a bazooka.

  30. I agree with every answer here. It's ludicrous to even suggest a virginity test! What about if their hymen broke for other reasons other than s*x?! Will the parent's believe them? No, they will lose their trust forever. What if she was sexually assaulted and isn't ready to talk about it? Or what if she's a L*****n, or what if she's found ways to m********e to enjoy herself that could have broken her own hymen. There are just too many ways for that to happen, and being "Accused" of having s*x with someone just because their hymen is broken, is the stupidest thing to judge a person by.

  31. It is a good idea. One of the main problems of feminism is that it has allowed young girls unreasonable use of their sexuality. The only thing it is achieving is family instability.
