Virtual School? Good or bad?

I am in virtual school... i was just wondering what you guys thought bout it... i just moved and haven't made too many friends here, but i have my old friends... just post some opinions and all is appreciated! Thanks! God bless!

I think virtual school is great. My daughter's cirriculium is adjusted to her level (she's advanced in reading and math), and we have the flexibility of doing it around our schedual.

     Try to see if there are any sports in your area that you could join, volenteer at a local organization. Things of that nature. There are plenty of options.

Is this a virtual school thru the public school system?

My husband and I were looking into these, but I didn't like that the state still had control over my children's education.  You are still considered being in public school - just online.  Same curriculum, and the school gets to decide if you move on to the next grade or not.  I think it totally defeats the purpose of homeschooling.  But - you do what you've got to do, I suppose.

My daughter's a 9th grader in California Virtual Academy and enjoys it. She likes being able to set her own hours, eat while she does her work, sleep in, go to school in PJ's, take a break whenever to read or walk around the block.

But you're right that it's tough to make friends "at school" when your learning at home. My dd is involved in several 4H projects, volunteers at a local animal shelter, babysits, goes to a weekly homeschool sports league, and attends church youth group. That's where she makes friends. Oh, and our family recently joined a Youth & Family Square Dance Club on Friday Nights.
