Hi I'm trying to compress my videos from around 1GB to something less than 50Mb but every tutorial I've tried hasn't worked. I try to use the xvid codec compression but I always get over 100mb. What's the best setting for compressing with xvid and the mpeg 3 audio compress?

  1. It's possible that the 100mb limit is the maximum the video can be compressed. Standard compression is at a 5 to 1 ratio while some specialized programs can compress 100 to 1.  In other words, a 1GB video (1 billion bytes) might be able to be compressed to 1/5 its size with standard compression. That would make it about 200 million bytes (200mb).  It's also possible that if you're trying to compress the audio too, it's at a different compression rate.
