Virus, malware removal for free???

Question

I keep getting a pop-up that tells me that my computer is infected and so i get really annoyed whenever i download something, scan it, and then it tells me i need to pay in order to fix it. What program can i use that actually removes viruses, malware, and all of that for free?

I have alot of infections on my computer so i need help. what's the best program that is recomended?

Look free software is never the best option, why is it that people don't want to waste a few bucks on a firewall or antivirus? Defender pro will get rid of all those annoying pop ups and viruses you have, you can find it at target for 20 dollars is that too much?

I use Norton....You buy it once, then wait for rebates and get it for free (after rebates) each year from then on.  But I think there are some others that are free and that you can just download.

install those, run update. then run a full scan,

it is recommended that you do the scan on safe mode.

to do this restart computer, then just before windows boots up. hit F8 then choose safe mode. then scan!

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Restart your computer

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

Once your scans are complete and your machine is clean, uninstall some of the programs, I suggest that you keep Malwarebytes for manual scanning, Spyware Doctor for realtime monitoring and Spybot. The remainder can be removed to save drive space, but you may want to keep the installers for future use.

Spybot Search & Destroy is also another good option.

In order to counter those pop-ups, DO NOT click on them and ignore them. Don't ever pay for these products. They are rogues and do more damage to your computer. With these programs, your problems could be solved.
