Virus. My home computer is affected with virus & it happened few hours ago while I was surfing

My home computer is affected with virus & it happened few hours ago while I was surfing the internet. A message always keep poping & it says Worm.Win32.Netbooster detected on your machine ...............etc. I have been using AVG 8 for long time and I regularly update it. Just dont know how the virus came. Can you tell me how to get rid of the problem and what anti virus do you suggest considering i have internet connection at home.
