Question:

Virus Warning. HELP!

Hi, I'm not much of a computer saavy person so I need some help. I was online, trying to watch a streaming video but it didn't work. My virus protection popped up telling me to block it. So I did. When I exited my screens, the desktop changed into a blue wall with a warning sign, saying "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer. Install an antivirus or apyware remover to clean your computer."

I showed this to some people who aren't as saavy as well, and they thought the desktop was a bit odd. Nothing else seems to be wrong. I scanned my computer and it says that no infected files were found.

What do I do?!

Is it okay then?

  2. it happened to me also. its a long time ago but here's what i remembered.

try different anti viruses maybe one of 'em will find the virus

change your desktop. i donno if that will work

  3. ooh, good god, you have the same thing I had. i suspect the pop up windows are coming up like the speech bubble windows ones? or an anti-spyware register window? don't click any. i'm totally not computer savvy either, i went to a technician, we had to do system restore. try system restore. i'm sorry if i'm not much help, as i didn't sort it out myself, but that's what we did. basically the guy said i must have opened an application that my anti-virus didn't spot. and the pop up windows telling you to install stuff are hoax, they just steal your money if you enter your credit card details. in my case, he said the only thing to do was system restore, maybe try that? or call a helpline. sorry i'm not much help, but i had the same thing and it was a nightmare. the virus is there, only your anti-virus isn't picking it up, because you must have opened it yourself. in the future, get a good firewall if you know how to use them. if not, make sure you regularly update your anti-virus. i recommend Norton protection from symantec.
