I have a Vista Ultimate hp laptop with Trend Micro Internet Security. I ran a full system scan, only to realise that a surprize awaited for me. It said that an infection was found "1@x70[1].htm" and couldn't be removed and was placed in quarintene (spelling?) instead. I am taking my computer to Best Buy to have it fixed but would appreciate an answer before i leave because I'd hate having to lug this computer and receipts and such to Best Buy tomorrow. P.S. Please dont say to highlight the virus and click remove since its grayed out. I cant do anything to the virus. Its located in the following path "C:\Users\UNCLE!!!\AppData\Local\Microso... Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\XYXH4TS1" P.P.S. PLEASE DONT SAY TO SWITCH TO MAC. I already have! (and linux too) But windows remains in my heart!

  1. wow thats a tough one, and i wouldnt switch to mac or linux either have you tried avg or tend micro home call ?

    www.download.com

trend micro home call does a pretty good job some thing you may try before taking it all the way down to best buy

  2. When a virus is place in quarantine, it is disabled by the anti-virus program. So your system should be OK.

You can goto the folder and manually delete the viruses.

I would advise that you install c**p cleaner ( ccleaner ) to delete all the craps left behind by the viruses.

  3. Download, install and run CCleaner  to clean up old temp files.

Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call

After the scans, restart the PC and update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC
