  2. Antivirus XP 2008 is a rogue anti-spyware program that is advertised through Trojans and other malware.

Follow these easy instructions from this point and

take no notice of any adverts above this.

Automated Removal Instructions for Antivirus XP 2008 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

And all of this is free to use.

If you have any problem scanning in normal mode you

should then try in safe mode.

  3. You do NOT need to format.  There is a write up and solution to this PROBLEM APPLICATION:

This program is classified as a "problem application" (program) by Symantec. This culprit reports problems that do not exist. The solution is to get rid of the program.

    You will need removal tools

    A. Symantec instructions

    B. Hijack This

    C. AVAST

    D. Instructions to prevent being Hacked.

    A. Here is Symantec a write-up:

    http://www.symantec.com/security_respons...

Click the tab REMOVAL and read; however >

Now, you don't need to purchase Norton, as AVAST and excellent FREE anti-virus tool and will clean any virus just fine...

so I'll give you that info below too.

Note: When follow the Symantec removal instructions, when you get to the part about disabling System Restore, make yourself a posty note to remember to ENABLE system Restore when you are finished.

    =====================================

    B. Also, look for the culprit program using this tool.

Use CAUTION as to what you remove.

    Get free anti-hijacking tool

for any hijack problems you might encounter

    1. The program is called HiJackThis 1.99

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.h...

    2. Download and run the program

    BE CAREFUL what you delete,

    from it's findings...because

it will find the offending program

and others that you may NOT want to delete.

Only delete the one that hijacked you.

    =====================================

When all is done, run AVAST

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quaranteen).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I know of several people who have used AVG and gotten a virus anyway.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with this one for the last 5 years.

    D. Protect your computer from Hackers

UNcheck Remote Desktop > and any other you are not using.

Disable all accounts that you do not use.

Set a password for the computer log-on (Administrator)

Set a password for access to your desktop

Right click a blank space on your desktop > selelct PROPERTIES >

tab ScreenSaver > IMPORTANT: You must select a screensaver

then check the box " On Resume Password Protect"

and set the number of minutes you want for the screen to pop-up requiring log on.

I have mine set to only 3 mintues.

Reconnect your computer to the internet access.

    Restart your computer

    Stay away from untrustworthy sites.

  4. Hello i recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.24. It can be downloaded from download.com found in the anti-spyware section. Give it a try it dose a good deep  scan even in quick  scan mode.

  7. Go download avast antivirus home edition. its free and its good. once 1 month uninstall it and reinstall it to have without pay. its updates everyday and my cmputer never had any promblems with viruses every sinceI got it

  8. Google "Spybot", download, update it and run a scan. It's free and it really works!! It has help me out tons of times.....

  9. avg never had a virus since and my coputer has runnig slick

  10. OMG...same thing happened to me last week. I was on myspace and all of a sudden it switched to the "Antivirus 2009" screen and told me to download all this stuff to get the "free trial". I thought I had downloaded a virus through myspace so I downloaded the "free trial" and THAT was the virus. Even going online, boxes would pop up telling me to pay for the antivirus to protect from all the spyware that was stealing info from my computer.

I freaked out, so I purchased Norton 2009 to get rid of it. Turns out it kicked me off 4 times and restarted my computer b/c of the virus. Finally Norton was able to kill the 1 virus that was the "antivirus program".

If you don't want to try Norton, there's always McAfee.

  11. You can free download antispyware 2008

http://www.anti-spyware-2008.com which is an essential tool to keep your system free of dangerous spywares, protecting your privacy and your PC.

It also works very well for me

  13. To remove spyware, there are many solutions exist, all of them with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Top 5 anti-spywares reviews, comparisons and download links on

    http://anti-spyware-center.net

You can download and scan your computer for free.

  14. You have to wipe your hard drive and then start over. There is no way to get rid of a virus with spyware....you must wipe your hard drive and reinstall your programs and spyware! Good luck!

  15. Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and partially remove them.

The following is known to work:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

    VundoFix:

    http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/gl...

Disconnect your computer from the internet

    Run vundo

    Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

  16. Norton is rubbish anyway. If you want a free anti-virus I recommend in order of popularity, but please choose the right one for you (install only one):

    1. AVG Free

    a. A simple interface (easier to use than Avast! and Avira)

    b. Can detect about 82.82% of viruses

    Cons: low virus detection

    2. Avast!

    a. Real-time protection

    b. It has an option to delete a virus once found

    c. Can detect about 87.46% of viruses.

Cons: Too many icons and confusing user interface

    3. Avira AntiVir

    a. It can detect malware better than Avast and AVG

    b. It's cute umbrella icon

    c. Can detect about 94.26% of viruses

    Cons: A very sluggish update

I advise against Norton anti-virus, it's bloated software that slows your computer down. The best anti-virus available is Kaspersky or NOD32 (recent tests at av-comparatives.org).

If you also want free anti-spyware and I would recommend getting Spybot Search and Destroy and SUPERAntiSpyware.

  17. This is a very bad, nasty infection. This is a fraudulent Security program that has many different names. AntiVirus 2008, AntiVirus 2009, AntiSpyware 2008, AntiSpyware 2009, Win AntiVirus XP 2008, Win AntiVirus XP 2009, AntiVirus Vista 2008, AntiVirus Vista 2009, Win AntiVirus Vista 2008, Win AntiVirus Vista 2009

This infection keylogs everything you do. So if you have check bank account, checked email, entered in any personal info. Then everything that has been entered is now compromised. You need to change every user name & password to every account that you checked while this infect has been on the system.

Keep in mind to only change the credentials after the system is healthy. I have helped someone who ended up spending over $300 giving it to them trying to remove the infections it says it finds. Which are all fraudulent claims. It will keep asking for more and more money to remore more and more stuff thats not infected.

In deleting those items it finds only makes it next to impossable to remove the infection. Most of the time a full format and reinstall of windows is the key to this.

I would first start by installing either AVG and or Malwarebytes, they are free and both work good. How ever if they do not work and you are still having issues you can check out this site for more help. http://www.nicklockard.com
