i just downloaded avira because i hear its good for users who download songs a lot. My question is that are there any better FREE NON TRIAL virus protection programs that does more than avira?

Yes, Avira free version from Germany has a very high rate of detection.  Higher then Kaspersk Russia.  Rate of detection is 97.6%.

You must remove Avast first as you can only have one antivirus running in your system or you will have serious conflict.

Yes there are. AVG is free and I recommend it. I know people who are computer techs who have it protecting their systems and swear by it.

TRY IT OUT. ITS FREE there are payable versions but the freeware is just as equally as good...

There are a lot of fantastic free anti-virus services out there, and there's a good list (of both paid and unpaid) applications at:

I personally recommend AVG free version (unlimited) if you want a freeware application, and NOD32 anti-virus if you're looking for something a little more professional.  AVG is a great anti-virus application, but if you want something that can give you complete protection, updated quickly and automatically, and doesn't use many system resources, definitely go for NOD32.

The best free antivirus is "avast"

It's really good, and FREE....  Don't listen to the other guy about "you get what you pay for"..... that may be true in some situations, but not on antivirus software.  They say that it's companies like symantec that make viruses so that they continue to make money on antivirus software.
