Question:

Visa Gift Card Scam/Trick?

by  |  earlier

I want to buy some sort of prepaid card that I could use to purchase something online, then I looked the following link:

http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_gift_card.html

and if you notice it never mentions anything at all about the cost of purchasing/activating/monthly fee of the card. I searched up other questions relating to this and some people said it costs money to activate and some people said it costs $4.99 for a monthly fee.

Can someone help me out, because I do not want to pay extra money.

  1. It is not a scam but it is a bit tricky.   I have no doubt that there are fees to be paid for the card but as any good marketing person will tell you, they are not to be mentioned until you are committed(or almost committed) to buying the product.  In other words save the negative information until the last.  Check out the deal if you wish but don't be surprised when the fees appear.  One thing I don't like about these cards is that unless you put a substantial amount of money on the card the fees eat up too much  of the gift.  Proceed with your eyes open.
