Question:

Visa Stamping and Damaged Passport?

Hi,

At my US Visa interview, the guy told me he'll issue a Visa but I have to get a new passport because the old one was defaced/damaged. I got a new one and sent it to the Consulate. Did I have to also send my old passport? Will they ask me to resubmit my old passport/deny my visa on just this ground?

Thanks

  1. No, the new passport should suffice.

  2. Your new passport replaces the old one. You do not need to send it in to get a Visa unless it is requested, usually to show other visas you have had before.

You can most likley keep the old one as a souvenir.

  3. No. The old passport was considered damaged so they wanted a new one to put the new visa in. They won't ask for the old one as they have already seen it.
