Hey there!

I am in a little bit of a pickle and need some advice. I am due to leave to go travelling in the next few days and my first stop is Thailand, i will be there for 7 weeks in total. I spoke to someone about a visa but they said you have a free 30 day pass and because i am travelling over to Cambodia for a few days they said i can get another 30 days visa on re-entering Thailand. But I have read on the net that you have to have proof of a flight out of Thailand with the 30 days of your first arrival, but we are going by train to the cambodian border and over by bus. So we have no written proof as the train is not booked!

Is this true as I have no idea what to do next.

Thanks guys!

  1. If your from a country that allows you to enter on a visa exempt status you do not need to show on ward travel.  If your from a country that requires a visa on arrival then you would need to show onward travel.  So you should have no problems, but kept a watch on the situation here between Cambodia and Thailand and borders being closed.

  2. ok i had a similir situation when i realised i had a return flight but for longer than 35 days i wasn't sure if they would let me in so i thought id be safe rather than sorry so i contacted the thai consulate to see how long it took to get a tourist visa for 60 days, there answer was about 5 days or you can go directly to them and they  process it in under 1 hour, you need your passport 2 passport size photos and £28 if your in the UK here are phone numbers to the thai consulates

    Liverpool - 0151 255 0504

    Birmingham -  0121 643 9481

  3. Hi Michelle, how long will you be in Thailand at a stretch? If you will be there for less than 30 days, with the other days spent in Cambodia, you can be ok. On your arrival in Thailand, you can get a 30-day free tourist pass, depending on where you are from. (most countries get this privilege, not sure what is your nationality) When you depart Thailand at the Thai-Cambodian border, you will be stamped out and when you re-enter Thailand, you get a new 30-day free tourist pass.

So as long as you do not exceed 30 days at a stretch within the duration date in your passport, you will be ok.
