Next year I am going to be an English assistant in Spain for 8 months. My fiance is going to be joining me over there but we have no idea what sort of visa he should apply for to work over there as an English teacher for 8 months, or how he goes about applying for it. He is American - please help, and please no stupid answers, I would really appreciate some help here.

  2. A travel agent should be able to help you, as well as any department of immigration.  Any city or county office should be able to give you the answer to this as well.  Contact the place in Spain where you are going to be working, and see if they can put you in contact with the appropriate agencies.

  3. A visa is not a work permit and those are time consuming to get unless you have a contract.  A normal visa lasts 3 months for Americans.  You can fly out of Europe and back and the passport stamp automatically renews the visa for another 3 months.

P.S. Not all places are that finnicky about work permits, especially smaller language academies.

  4. You'd be best off contacting Spannish Embassy in USA
