Question:

Visa for england for US citizens.

I heard that US citizens do not require a visa for a short term visit (3-6 months) to England, is that true? If so, Do i need to have a sponsor in england, or any other kind of information just to visit on a US passport, or will I be subjected to all kinds of strange questions at the airport?

And if i decide to stay there and find a job, how hard is it to get a work permit specially after the way things have been after sep 11th incident.

I am a US citizen now and have visited england before in '03 on a different passport when i was not a US citizen.

Thank you for your help in advance, any information will be much appreciated.

  1. Everything you need to know about visiting, working and applying for a UK visa

  2. As a visitor from the US, you can stay here for up to 6 months without a visa.  Trying to get a work permit and wanting to stay here...well, basically you haven't got a chance in h**l unless you have a shed load of money to invest, are being transferred here by an American company with a branch here, or you can get into the country on our new points tier system.  All vacancies now have to be offered to citizens of the EEA (European Economic Area) before anybody else gets a crack at them unless they can fill any of the above criteria.
