Visa for leaving the country??

i live in the us and my friend moved here a while ago from australia. she goes back every summer and asked me if i wanted to go next year. what kind of visa would i get and how much would it cost?

If you are a US citizen, it's easy. Just visit this website!http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/  You can apply electronically to get a 3-month or even a 6-month visa.

the visa is for getting into Australia, not leaving the US.  contact the Australian Dept. of State

As a US citizen, rather than a visa you can apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority).  

It costs about $20.
