Question:

Visa invitation letter from business owners -- is it risky?

A family friend of ours (a university student living in Brazil) is coming to visit my family and I (we live in Canada), for a 3-week vacation. To get her visa, my parents will need to send her an invitation letter. We have been told that as inviters, we are required to mention our occupation in the invitation letter. The thing is, my parents are business owners, and would the consulate think our friend will work illegally for my parents? (which is not the case of course; our friend will be here only for vacation.)

  1. No, the Consulate won't think this.
