Visa issues force Starc to return to Australia – Cricket News Update
Australian medium-pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-c76390 Starc, who had recently traveled to the UK to make his County cricket debut with Yorkshire, has been deported from Britain owing to complications with his visa.
Starc signed an initial five-week deal with the county club, which is coached by former Aussie fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Shahzad-c874, who left the club amid a storm of controversy in order to join Yorkshire’s
arch-rivals http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806.
The 22-year-old arrived at the Heathrow Airport in London, UK last weekend, and after being held up for 4 hours, was allowed to go on to Leeds. However, though he was initially cleared to remain, complications arose and the Home Office dictated yesterday
that the left-armer had to return to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to complete necessary paperwork which had been left incomplete.
“Following http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 attending an appointment with the UK Border Agency this afternoon, he has been instructed to return to Australian in order to complete the necessary visa documentation,” confirmed a recent statement by Yorkshire.
“The problem was as a result of the incorrect advice given to him in Australia. The necessary paperwork from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 County Cricket Club is in order and accepted by the UK Border Agency but unfortunately is insufficient to allow Mitchell to fulfill the
full visa requirement,” the statement went on to say, adding further that the club hoped the issue would be resolved in order to enable Starc to return as soon as possible.
Starc, who has played four Test matches for his national side, was due to make his debut in a 4-day match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 at the County Ground in Bristol, due to begin on May 9. However, with that opportunity past, the pacer has expressed the hope
that he will be able to return in time to take part in Yorkshire’s match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789, due to begin on May 16 in Headingley, Leeds.
“Visa issue. Incorrect communication from Aus. Will be straight back to UK ASAP once sorted. In time for next Yorkshireccc game,” he tweeted after the incident, going on to wish his Yorkshire teammates good luck for the upcoming match.
