  1. It basically cannot be done, you need to file a request for visa on arrival at least two days prior to departure. If you are in Bangkok, the Vietnam Embassy is located on Wireless Rd., near the US Embassy. If you go to the embassy, they can have your visa ready the next day (I just got one there last week), the cost is 2500 baht compared to 1600 baht for a visa that takes 4 days. I don't know if it's possible, but it won't hurt to ask if you can get one any quicker, this is Asia, and money talks here. Here's the website for the embassy here in Bangkok: http://www.vietnamembassy.or.th/index.ph...

It's a very simple process, but you need to give them at least a little time to process your visa, be sure to bring a 2"x 2" passport photo with you, the applications are available there, or you can download it off the website, good luck.

  2. I agree with the first answer. Get your visa before you go to Vietnam.

Although there are new procedures in place to get a visa upon arrival in Vietnam, the officials there will make you c**p a load while you're getting it. Some friends of mine went through that last year, and thought they were going to be imprisoned. It cost them a C-note ($100 US) each to satisfy the official's economic needs at the time to resolve the visa issue.

If you're leaving in the next 24 hours, you won't have much choice but to get one upon arrival. My advice is to be relentless in getting it, don't let the official intimidate you and take an extra pair of clean underwear just in case.

Good luck to you, and have fun!

  3. You can arrange a Visa On Arrival in Vietnam. But this visa on arrival is not similar with Thailand/cambodia/laos....

    - A agree with the third answer that you should arrange a visa at the embassy of Vietnam in Bangkok as it's easy for you.

However, if you are interested in visa on arrival, please see this information

    - Visa On Arrival in Vietnam is not visa on arrival in black meaning as this is just Approval in advance. What does this mean?

    - You need to ask a travel agent in Vietnam to get the Visa Approval for you in advance and then when you arrive in Vietnam (at the airport), you will show the approval to the Immigratio office, they will stamp your passport. That's all - easy and fast

Cost: You will  need to pay $25/person for the agent who arrange Visa Approval for you (normally arranged in 3 workding days) and USD $25/person at the immigration office in Vietnam. So totally, it will cost you $50/person

Procedures: provide the agent your passport details and bring along a photo of 3x4 when you arrive in Vietnam for stamp.

Special note: Visa On Arrival will only be done at International border gates (normally at the airports). Vietnam don't allow any one without visa check-in, so if you don't have visa or visa approval, you'd better not flight to Vietnam

    Happy traveling
