Visa and mastercard are basically the same thing. There both accepted in almost all stores and websites. I have a visa, a mastercard, a maestro and a solo. I dont see the difference in my mastercard or visa or between my solo or maestro!

I really don' think one is better than the other - it all depends on what interest rate they are wanting to give to you.  I have a Capital One Platinum Mastercard which has been great - make your payments on time/all of the time and they treat you like a gem with a great rate and offers.

What you should be looking at is which credit card meets your needs i.e. do you want a low introductory apr, do you want to transfer your balances, is your credit in bad shape and you want a credit card to rebuild your credit, do you want a small business credit card, do you want a prepaid credit card to control what you spend etc.
