http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Afridi, who recently featured in the ongoing Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka, might not make it in time to appear for his county side Hampshire. The arrival of the flamboyant all-rounder is delayed due to visa problems; he was scheduled to play for his
county team in the FL T20 competition.
"We'll miss Shahid. Every side in the world would miss someone of his ability," Giles White, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 manager said, while talking to BBC Radio Solent. The right-handed batsman has already missed two T20 matches in the county competition.
Afridi failed to impressive with both bat and bowl for the national side on the recent tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. He had an average performance in the T20 series and a below par performance in the One Day Internationals (ODI) with a poor batting average of 9.33
and only 3 wickets at a hefty bowling average of 48.66 in five ODIs.
However, last year, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 player enjoyed considerable success with the Hampshire County. In 10 matches he bagged 17 wickets at a fine average of 11.17.
The highlight of his stint came against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 he added a notable 80-run knock and led his team to the final. Manager White is eager
to have him back while acknowledging his contributions towards the team and the impact he has, as a player.
“He's very keen to get over here and he will come as soon as he can. We'll be delighted when he does arrive. There is no finger pointing. It is just the way it has worked out with the border agency and certain issues that have cropped up,” the Hampshire
manager added.
The right-arm leg-spinner’s contributions helped Hampshire continue an unbeaten run at home, while advancing through the group stages which eventually led them to Edgbaston to play the T20 finals.
"It is no-one's fault. Hopefully he will be here within the next few days," said White.
Afridi has surprised everyone when he announced to reconsider his ODI career recently after returning from Sri Lanka. The 32-year-old said that youngsters should be given a chance and he would reach a final decision after speaking to his elders. However,
whatever the outcome of his decision, it doesn’t affect his county commitments.
