Question:

Visa required for Ireland?

I'm Irish, so please no need to explain the Ireland/Northern Ireland UK thing. I'm just wondering about this - my girlfriend requires a visa to enter both the UK and the Republic. She'll be flying to London, showing her UK visa there (which she has obtained) and then flying into Belfast. My plan then is to drive her over the border to the Republic. Is this ok? I assume nobody in Belfast is going to care about whether she travels on to the Republic. I live near the border myself, and know that it is an open border. Can we get by without her obtaining a Republic visa?

sorry for the long question, thanks!

  1. Do not worry, she doesnt need anything else. She can go through with no problems.

  2. The Republic and UK have a common travel area, for the time being anyway.  So there is no need to flash the visa.

  3. No problem.  I have friends coming and going all the time, and there is never any hassle.  If she is planning to stay long enough to be looking for work, then she would need to look at a permit.
