  2. A visa for France is a visa for France and not a visa for Romanian. Although there is something that is called a Schengen visa which is allows free travel amongst 15 european countries, Romania is not one of the signatories to the Schengen agreement.

If you are an Indian national living in India then apply for your visa thru the French consulate nearest to you. There are French consular offices in New Dehli, Mumbai and Pondicherry. You are advised to apply for your visa 6 months in advance.

Applicants for a visa must supply the following documents:

one application form, completed and signed

    two photographs

    confirmed return air ticket

overseas medical insurance (including medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation amounting to a minimum of 30000 Euros or equivalent)

Copy of CONFIRMED prepaid hotel reservation OR sponsorship certificate (attestation d'accueil*) IN ORIGINAL

Copy of ITINERARY prepared by the travel agency (for those going on tour)

Copy of income tax papers of last three years, last SIX month bank statement, last 3 months salary slips

In addition, those applying to the French consulate in Mumbai will be required to go to the consulate in person for the purpose of being fingerprinted.
