Visa schengen question?

i applied for a visa schengen and i'm waiting to get it in few days from the french embassy, but now i'm forced to cancel my trip to france and i'm not sure that i will be able to travel again during the visa time

so what i have to do?? and can i go to another schengen country as a first destination with the same visa?

well, notifiy the embassy that you will not be able to travel , but if you get a schengen visa from a country? you must enter that country first in order for your visa to be valid, that is how it works;

First, notify the French embassy that your travel plans have changed, so they will stop processing your visa.

Second, the French visa would not have gotten you first-stop entry to another country, anyway - you'll have to apply to that country's embassy for a first-stop visa.
