I have been offered a transfer from my office in the uk to our office in canada (vancouver) and would love to go, but i would like my boyfriend to come with me. We are both civil engineering technicians, would he be able to get a working visa and how long for? how much would this cost approx?

Also we woould like to get married in a year, would we be able to get married there if we were both on working visa's?

  1. If you're planning to get married, then do it in the UK, then he will get the same visa is yourself, all the best.

  2. didnt i read this in the australian section too?

  3. Go to melbourne instead, haha... sorry about the joke, but I just saw your question in the Australia session before.

I know this is not your question, but if I were you I would choose Australia. At least in terms of climate and atmosphere, you will experience something very different from the UK.

Going back to your question, the Canadian Government also has an immigration program incentive, which you can see on their website. Your bf category would also be skilled worker, try it out and apply but I guess if he does not have an employer to sponsor his visa it will take a while till he gets the working permit (about 2 years, I guess). Perhaps finding a job there first would be easier if you guys don't plan to marry soon. Cheers
