Visas to Dubai?

My wife is travelling on a non-British passport but her visa is stamped with a spouse visa from the British Embassy. She is has a connecting flight which stops at Dubai for 3 hours. Does she need a visa or will they issue her with a transit visa on arrival. My travel agent does not seem to know the offical line.

  1. A temporary stop for 3 hours need not have a transit visa as long as there is a booking for the connecting flight.

  2. The following is posted on the UAE government website at http://www.government.ae/gov/en/visitors...

    Transit Visa

If you are flying to or from Europe or the United States, to Asia or Africa and passing through UAE airports, you can obtain a special 96-hour transit visa. You must be sponsored by an airline operating in the UAE and you must have a valid ticket for your onward flight. Your travel documents will be stamped with an entry seal and there is no charge for this visa

Based on the above your travel agent should contact the airline to verify that the visa will be provided at no charge.

The fact that your wife has a spouse visa to the UK has no bearing whether she needs a visa to visit a particular country. Her need for a visa to visit a country is based upon which country issued her passport. Her spouse visa allows her to remain in the UK.
