Hi, my problem is that I´m going to dublin, but the plane stops over in toronto. I have 12 hours in toronto and my plan is to visit the Niagara falls and return to the airport to take my plane, but... Do you think I can do all this in only 12 hours?

  1. It takes four hours alone to drive to Niagara Falls from Toronto. So 4 there, 2 hours spent, 4 hours back, and 2 hours at the airport preboarding. Sounds good to me! If you can afford to rent a vehicle go ahead (but reserve a car ahead of time).

    ... I think it's a 4 hour drive... I went there awhile ago so I don't really remember.

  2. Hey! If you are a person who likes having adventure, reaching the limits and experiencing extreme situations, then I think you should definetely try it! 12 hours is enough if you plan well and only go to watch the majestic falls without spending too much time there.

Let's run the numbers: in the worst case (with traffic and bad weather) the bus would make 3 hours to get there and 3 back, that's 6. If you register your luggage for the next flight just after arriving to Toronto (like 1 hour max.), then you should be at most like 2 hours before for the flight to Dublin (which protects you a lot). 0.5 hours to Toronto downtown from the airport and backwards = 1 hr.

Taking all into account is 12-(3+3+1+2+0.5+0.5)=2 free hours in Niagara Falls. This is with the pesimistic point of view and you even have some flexibility for error management. However, if things go better, you could be there up to 4 or 5 hours. In case that anything goes wrong, you still have the time to go back immediately.

    It's all 'bout time...

Do your calculations, determine your point of no return, estimate your chances and take a decision.

  3. its about an hour and a half drive from toronto to the falls

  4. Toronto to niagara falls is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours so if you pay attemtion to the time you should be fine

  5. Toronto is 90 minutes from Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls is about 20 minutes from Buffalo.  You could do it.  I would take the QEW (interstate).  It shouldn't be no more than an hour and 10 minutes.  You have plenty of time.

  6. hour and a half drive, in good traffic, which is never likely on the highway between TO and Niagara.........If you don't mind just driving past the Falls, if only to be able to see it, then go for it. But I personally think its a waste of money to rent a vehicle, pay the gas to drive all the way there, and not get to do anything......You'll need to plan another trip for that.

  7. I would NOT do that trip. Too many chances of "missing your flight " due to traffic or weather problems.

Take the airport shuttle bus to down town Toronto, for about $30 and take a walk around the city core, then back to the airport. No way to get lost and the bus is cheaper than a taxi, and they run every 15 minutes from each terminal at the airport. The bus takes about 40 minutes to  get downtown , from the airport.

On the trip from the airport to the city core, you will get a good view of the layout of Toronto, and the harbour and the shores of  Lake Ontario. Take some photos on the way .

    jim B. Toronto.
