Visit Pompeii or Museo de Archeology? Can't do both.?

We are arriving on a Tuesday afternoon when the Museo is closed and too late to spend more than 3 hours at Pompeii. And to do Pompeii and the Museo in one day and be back in the train station by 4 PM on the Wednesday seems too much. So I have to choose: Pompeii or the museo? What is the suggestion?

Pompeii is fantastic.  Keep in mind that, depending on what time of year you go, it can be hot as the blazes in the afternoon.  So you may want to push the Pompeii visit to the Wednesday morning, and take your time there.  

The site is much larger than most people think.  In 3-4 hours you will get a good overview, but you can't possibly see  everything in that time.  It's that big.

Unless you are really interested in something specific at the museo I would see Pompeii.
