  1. my sister had her employer sponsor me once to visit bahrain.  so maybe you should ask your friend if his employer can sponsor you.  i know our situations are totally different (being that my petitioner is my sister and this is in bahrain, not dubai), but i think you should still give it a try. just in case.

  2. tourist visas are available

  3. Tourist visa is allowed but are you aware that in a Muslim country, one cannot meet as friend of opposite s*x unless you can show the authority your marriage contract?

  4. As of yesterday my friend told me that there is a new visa rule being implemented (I have yet to thoroughly verify this). It seems that nowadays if you are coming on visit you cannot transfer the visa to employment just by visa runs. It is now required for you to come from your country of origin for the transfer to employment visa.

A visit visa for 30 days costs AED500 (5000php). It is not renewable. If you will stay longer, you have to get a 90-day visa which will cost AED1000 (10000PHP approx). The price goes higher when you go through an agent of course. There is no other way because only locals and companies can act as sponsors. I don’t think your friend can sponsor you. Residents can only sponsor their immediate family. But he can contact travel agents that can sponsor visit visas and are offering package deals for ticket, accommodation and visa.

To get a visit visa, only your passport which is valid for at least 6 months is required. Keep a scanned copy in your email so you can send it anytime you want to. For the employment, you need your diploma or certificate of highest educational attainment. While it is not compulsory, you can include your employment certificates.

Going to Dubai on visit with a goal for employment is quite risky. Make sure you cover all ends as the cost of living in Dubai is very expensive. You’ll surely be in trouble if you are not able to secure a job soon. UAE is on open country; you can pretty much carry on with the lifestyle you have in the Philippines but keep in your mind that at the end of the day it is an Islamic country. It would not hurt to at least respect their culture.

This is the website of Dubai's leading newspaper. You can learn a lot from here. Keep in mind that rules change so some may not apply. http://www.gulfnews.com/home/
