Question:

Visiting Amsterdam with a criminal record?

My friend and I are taking a trip in march to Amsterdam (from the UK). I'm worried that he will be denied entry for a criminal record (theft). He was denied entry to the US two years ago because of it. Should we cancel this trip?

  1. As a EU National, I do not think that the offence quoted would bar you entry from one EU state to another EU state. It might depend on the seriousness of the offence. (Stealing £50 from a shop is not quite in the same league as Nick Leeson's multi-million pound theft from Barings Bank)

  2. Yeah. Us is the only funny country who would deny Amy Winehouse to entry because of her drugs use. Sure, this country is so pure that they don't want anyone else to tame them. I think they have enough druggies in house like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan.. already, they don't want to add anymore druggies What a joke!

  3. As far as i know the US is the only country to deny people with criminal records.

I returned from a holiday in amsterdam last thursday (from Ireland), and a friend of mine who was with us has a criminal record, and he had no problems. Your friend shouldnt either.

    Have a nice trip!
