  1. Those who say that there is no good food in Barcelona are, I'm afraid, fools.

Try Can Culleretes in C/ Quintana. (Go down the Ramblas, turn left between KFC and MacDonalds, second (?) left up C/ Ferran.

    Good value wine, canalones.

It is difficult to find a good place on Mondays. Caracoles, Escudellers, 14, is open all week. Eat at the bar for more fun.

Sete Ports, bottom of C/ Leytana, is good but quite expensive.

Bar Celta for good value tapas.

In the evening, good places are identified by the queues of locals.

  2. If you like vegetarian food, try these 3 which we loved - they're fantastic value too.

Organic - C/ de la Junta de Comerç, 11, Ciutat Vella,

Biocentre - C/ Pintor Fortuny, 25, Ciutat Vella

    Almatea - C/ Diputacion 164, Eixample

Juicy Jones is also well spoken of but we found the music too loud so we left.

If we weren;t veggie we would have eaten in tapas bars every night. You just keep ordering until you've had enough.

Enjoy yourself, it's a brilliant city.

  3. yeah, definetely watch your wallet, especially around les Ramblas. There arent really that many great restaurants unless you go down to the Marina where you can get some good food but can expect to pay through the nose for it. Its down on the left as you're looking at the sea. Make sure you try the hot chocolates though.

  4. I can suggest that you watch your wallet if you're going there. A few people I know were mugged over there. Nothing like that when I went but I didn't really rate the city much to be honest. Quite dirty and didn't come across any restaurants that I would consider worth recommending.

  5. What I discovered when I went to Spain was that if you eat at the bar instead of a table its cheaper, because if the waiter or waitress has to come to your table to serve you its more.

  6. went in november and u will love it!!!

there are so many places to go coz its a huge city and it depends what type of food u like... if u go to the barceloneta area u will find some of the best seafood around! stick to small restaurants, there is a square called plaza del palau (take a map with u) and at the back where all the banks are there are a couple of nice places and also in the streets behind!!! Honestly my best advice to u is go onto amazon and buy the rough guide to barcelona!!!! its about £8 if u want the new one version however i took the 2004 one! i promise it is the best book because it will list everything from best restaurants to nightclubs to attractions and its all listed by price!!! they only list the ones that come recommended!!! hope that helps...

oh and p.s. steer clear of any restaurant in las ramblas... lovely place but overpriced and bad quality food!!!!
