What are some nice clubs to go to downtown? Any museums I should visit while I'm in town? What about Sports games? Any places you have been to that you highly recommend? I will be there for about a week so I want to make the most of my trip and see a variety of things during the day but also have fun at night since I'm in my early 20's. Thanks in advance!!

  1. Maybe I am the only person that noticed this question is for Downtown Detroit?

    Clubs Downtown:

    Delux (Greektown)

    Pulse (Greektown)

    Bleu (Woodward)

    South Beach (New Center Area)

V (MGM Grand Hotel) - This place is awesome

    Museums:

I would also suggest a trip to Dearborn for the day to see the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.

DIA - This is a must see

Science Center - Hands on w/Imax

    Wright African American Museum

    MOCAD- Brand New Modern Art

    Casinos:

    MGM Grand

    Motor City

    Greektown

All of the casinos are spectacular even if you are not a gambler like me.

    Sports:

Detroit Tigers 9/22 through 9/28 and Detroit Lions 9/14

There are a number of fun things to do downtown and a ton of great restaraunts.

    Enjoy!

  2. This is a good source for clubs downtown.  http://detroit.metromix.com/bars-and-clu...

There are more and more popping up every month.  I think it will help you find what your style is.  Anything at the casinos are going to be nice.

I would visit the Henry Ford in Dearborn if you go to one museum or the Detroit Institute of Arts just north of downtown.  Or the Motown museum.

Sports:  Tigers game or Lions game depending on scheduling.

Detroit can be a very fun city.  I recommend you go to the river walk and visit the Ren Cen shops.  There are a lot of good venues for concerts downtown like the Fox, Fillmore, Opera House, St. Andrew's Hall, Music Hall, Gem Theatre.

This is also a good website for the overall experience.

High end shopping: Somerset collection in Troy

  3. Arts, Beats and Eats festival in Pontiac, Michigan is a pretty big event with tons of food vendors, live music from local acts. Plus, Pontiac has a strip of cool clubs to go to. Pontiac is about a half an hour from Downtown Detroit. http://artsbeatseats.com

As far as clubs go, I would party in Royal Oak, MI which is like ten minutes from Detroit.  They have fun/trendy/upscale bars/clubs like Black Finn, Woody's, Fifth Avenue, Luna, Memphis Smoke, and a bunch more. http://local.yahoo.com/MI/Royal+Oak/Ente...

Also, the museams are located off Woodward Avenue as you head into downtown Detroit. They have the Detroit Institute of Arts http://www.dia.org, the Historical Museam http://www.detroithistorical.org or Detroit Science Center http://www.sciencedetroit.org .

I'm not sure about the schedule for the games.

If you like 70s/80s music, Boogie Fever in Ferndale, MI (five minutes from Detroit) is AWESOME.

Birmingham, MI (fifteen minutes from Detroit) is a upscale town with nice restaurants, shops and bars.

I highly recommend Boogie Fever and **Gracie's Underground** (Ferndale), Clutch Cargos (Pontiac), Towne Pump (Detroit).  Also Goodnight Gracie in Royal Oak is a very swanky place.

They also have three Casinos (MGM http://www.mgmgranddetroit.com Motor City http://www.motorcitycasino.com and Greektown http://www.greektowncasino.com Can't miss those!!

  4. If you want to travel outside of downtown there is the Michigan Rennaisance festival in Holly.  It's about an hour away from detroit!

  5. metrotimes.com

  6. Pulse is a great upscale "lounge" atmosphere in downtown detroit.  On Monroe st I believe.  It is small but a good looking crowd and friendly people.  I was there recently for a 30th b-day party and we had a great time.  Not a dance club but a nice chill place.

If you want to dance there is Boogie Fever in Ferndale (very close to detroit).  Very cool place and it is huge!
