  1. The zoo here hurts a bit; depressing enclosures. Monkeys are cool though, you know? I think the museum (128st 102ave) has its moments; It is small and crowded with wedding photographers and their herds, but the bug room is pretty much awsome. I take peeps there all the time. Yo, they got some crazy bugs. I think it's $12. Probably $11.50 for students. The West Ed. Mall is alright if that's your thing; personally prefer smaller, less crowded malls (southgate). In all honesty I avoid West Ed. like the plague. Have fun parking on a Saturday. On a hot summers day, I like the legislature grounds with a frisbee and a sneaky cold one or five. Lots of other fun parks, sometimes a bit crowded with *spellcheck* beligerent  "yahoos", but still fun. Some peep go in for the folk fest. It's kind of an institution around here. I've been. Meh. Some great music, some.....not so great. Go for the music stay for the Elephant ear pastries. Oh yea, food.

    Ahem.

Lot's of awsome places to eat. I recommend Sofra for Turkish fare; the swordfish kebab rules earth.(104th and 104th). Boualong Laos & Thai. probably one of my favies, affordable, ultra small (capacity 15 people maybe a few more), most authentic thai i've had outside of thailand, with all the usual fare....ca$h ONLY). Matahari (jasper ave and 124th) is also good for thai "fusion"....(more thai than fusion.) Try their hot and sour soup. Yea, Dadeo's is pretty sweet too. Lot's of dece Greek restraunts around too (koutoukis, yiannis grub med, possibly all owned by the same family.) I personally think Bucas & Pasta's, 165st and 100ave, is an awsome place for pasta; small menu sorta set up cafeteria style, your choice of four or five pastas, and four or five sauces, with tasty salads too. they have an all you can eat option for a buck extra (total $9 I think), but honestly one bowl (large) is almost too much. For Vegan/vegetarian food, look no further than Padmandi in China town. Amazing what these guys do! I recommend the "chicken" curry. Owned and operated by a couple sweet dudes from Malasia, I believe. Tons of great Indian food around ; Kahzana's, Punjab sweets, Morya palace can be good sometimes, there's more. Colonel mustards for a sandwich (124st and.....107ave area?), or the Italian bakery (106ave and 97st....ish). Ie: Alot of great places to eat.

Drinks at the Black Dog (roof-top patio is kinda cool)that's at Whyte ave and....whyte. Try the "bulldog"  at Julio Barrio's. Savoy is nice, Martini's on 109st 99ave. Go for the Irish car-bombs and free salty-as-a-mo-fo' popcorn, stay for the irish carbombs. Or maybe try an apple-pie martini. Not sure if they still make it, but that was a tasty bevy.

  2. Whenever I go to Edmonton, I hang out on Whyte Ave. at the pubs and shops, and usually go shopping. The mall is big if that is your thing. There is daily passenger bus service to Calgary- about a 4 hour trip on the Greyhound. I like going to Dadeo, a cajun style restaurant on Whyte Ave.

  3. I would go to West Edmonton Mall

There is a waterpark, galaxyland (amusmant park), a hotel and tons of stores.

It is one of the biggest malls in the world and it is so much fun!

  4. West Edmonton mall is a popular spot--its huge.

    Your main concern is accommodations.

There are people living in shelters that make $18.00 an hour and apt are all but non exsistent

  5. If you're going to be in Edmonton during July, you might want to go to Capital Ex. Although, most people still call it K-Days.

It's basically a week where by Rexall, there is an outdoor amuesement park. Rides, games, and all that other amusement park good stuff.

It'll be more fun to go with other people though, not just alone.

  6. kinda depends what you like.. LOTS of good restaurants..

not sure about tour buses.. but there is GREYHOUND...

if you are renting a car or have somebody who can drive.. I suggest The Village at Pigeon Lake.. - especially the store COuntry Sampler.. and ECO Restaurant.. at the Village..

also check for dates on Heritage Days... very good ...
