  1. It isn't necessary bringing US dollars to Ensenada because the Peso is the official currency but taking in mind that Ensenada is quite friendly to tourists, they can see very well if you pay with US dollars.

About the whales I think you should choose another time because March-April is better for that.

You should eat "tacos de pescado" or "fish taco", translated into English… those tacos are one of the famous food in Ensenada. You should also eat clams with lime, onion, tomato and hot sauce or some oysters.

Enjoy the sea and if you like drinking some way, the Hussong's cantina is a good place to enjoy a drink. It's an old and legendary bar from Ensenada where you can also sing some popular songs, eat some peanuts and have very pleasant conversations to other people.

The First Street is one of the favorite streets for tourists… you can find there a lot of shops with a great variety of souvenirs, restaurants, hotels, etc..

You can also go to "La Bufadora", a natural park where is amazing seeing how sea water "climbs".

    Enjoy your time in Ensenada!

  2. Go to the big flag pole and head south east for about 2 miles. Get away from the tourist area. except for the black market (fish market) go to the second hand stores, so much fun and you can find some jewels. ask a taxi driver. or just jump on one of the buses. and have fun getting lost. just remember alot of people know English.

  3. it gets cold  you can go to the ''casa de cabio'' and trade your u.s. dollerto pesos

  4. Lots fun shopping and good restaurants. El Rey Sol is the best although a bit pricey. The fish market is a great photo opportunity. Historic Hussong's Cantina is worth a visit. Nice helpful people. Ask about whale watching at the Tourist office, we haven't seen one yet. Bien Viaje

  5. The street that you enter the city is the main street were in the weekends in the summer (not sure in winter) there is people outside walking and hanging around. There are many stores and restaurants. Its really nice. The next street to the left are more stores. The people are nice. There are a lot of little stands were they sell jewelry and lil suveniers. You can bring U.S. dollars but its better if you changed them to pesos.
