  1. If you are from Australia it will be much colder than you are used to, (unless you live in the mountains of the south or Tasmania,) and you will come when it is your summer.

Better bring the warmest clothes you have, (thick jeans, fleece jacket if you have one,) and bring layers.

And bring a good windproof, rainproof jacket if you have one.

And if you have hiking boots, they are mostly well insulated at the soles, good to wear in winter, also when just walking towns.

Otherwise, closed shoes on which you can walk all day, every day. You can take light shoes, (slippers) with you for inhouse use, your feet will appreciate the change after a day in town.

Most people in Europe will walk around in jeans, T-shirts, a sweater on top of that and a winter coat, which is wind proof with an insulation layer.

As you can not buy the warm clothes in OZ, better bring some money and go to the cheaper shops when you arrive in Europe and get yourself a winter coat or at least a few warm sweaters to make a light coat enough.

And wear a layer under your jeans (or other trousers.)

If you have thin silk pajama pants, they will do fine, otherwise, leggings, supple training trousers or if you feel the cold much even thicker sweatsuit trousers.

The average temperatures will be around freezing, but Paris will be colder in a cold spell.

Better to dress for warmed than for fashion. You will not look attractive when shivering either.

  2. Except for Paris, which gets very cold, the other locations are fairly temperate and you can expect temperatures to be well above freezing.  You will need warm clothes for Paris, including a good warm coat, gloves, and a scarf and/or hat.

  3. depends what you call winter? From end of November until end of March I would avoid Milan, Paris and Cote d'Azur.  Rome can be moderate, but I would recommend to go further south: Naples, Malaga, Sevilla, Athens,...

  4. I went to paris in feb and found it cool but not cold...maybe i got a good week....although I have to say I did not see the sun very much at all....I got away with wearing a top and thin jacket ...although  i did have hat, gloves and scarf to heep the chill off....the only time i was REALLY cold was up the eiffle tower where it felt like it was blowing a gale!!!!

I also went to Spain...south of barcelona for a week and again there was a bit of overcast weather for several days and it felt cool in the wind.....we did have some lovely blue skies ( which I took photos of...literally the blue sky...so I could put it on my wall back at work in england!!!

So you might have some nice, coolish days and a few overcast days as well, as that seems to be the standard weather there....but I will say it will be sunnier than english winter weather!
