  1. I'm not sure if you'll be visiting Rome, but if you do, here are the highlights from my trip this summer.  We didn't use a tour group or guide, and I think you'll find that you can get around just fine and hit lots of fun spots with a good tour book and a little forethought about what you'd most like to see and do while there.

Even if churches aren't your thing, you should check out Santa Maria della Concezione.  The church itself is ok (if you happen to snag a tour by a drunken janitor, take it, it's worth the coins he'll ask in return) but make sure you go into the rooms below (the door to the right of the main entrance).  You'll need to have a few coins at the ready for a donation as you enter.  The entire place is decorated with human remains, and though macabre, it's VERY interesting.  I think it's open from 9-12 am and 3-5 pm.  The church is right next door to the Lamboughini store (I hope I spelled that correctly).

The Colloseum is a great place to spend an hour or two, and of course the Vattican and the Vattican musuems.  I reccomend hitting the Vattican early - I think it opens at 7:00 - and paying the extra few Euro for the elevator ride to the copula.  If you're going to the Vattican musuems (the only way to get to the Sistene Chappel)  prepare to wait in line for about 2 hours and make sure to stop to see the Rafael rooms once inside.

We had a great time around the Trevi fountain as well, lots of little shops through there on the way to the Pantheon.

Piazza Navona is supposed to be a great "younger croud" hangout, but it was rainy the day we were there and it was pretty dead.  Campo di Fiori was romoured to be a great marketplace, but we just didn't have enough time to get there.

    Hope this helps,

    Enjoy your trip!!!

  2. Why February? This is a cold and rainy month in Europe. You might be very disappointed.

As to tours or groups, there is such a huge variety of travel agents who arrange such tours. Just click in Google or Yahoo

and you'll find so many offers it will be hard to pick.

  3. Hi,

For Spain I'm a little uncertain but in Italy you should check out Terravision.

They have low cost coaches and tourist guides receiving good feeback from customers.
