My husband and I are going to France in April. We will be spending a few days in Paris and then making our way done the Western side into SW France and then into Barcelona for a couple days to visit friends. We have Bordeaux and Toulouse "ear marked" as places to stop along the way. Looking for anyone with feeback about these two cities, as well as any others that you might find appealing.

We really like wine, food, art, culture, music, history, being able to walk around, etc. So.. anything that fits with those would be interesting for us to learn more about! Thanks!!!

  1. I think the best would be to check first  on their information sites.

Toulouse is a beautiful city worth looking around. Just stroll and if you're lucky to have good weather find a little restaurant and by night look at the illuminated monuments.

I only drove through Bordeaux so can't help much. Here is their site with plenty of great info. If you intend to visit the 'caves' in the countryside take a driver or go on a group tour!!!

  2. Near Bordeaux, you have the cities of "Bassin d'Arcachon", with Pilat's Dune (highest of Europe), a bird themed park in "Le Teich".

60 kilometers to the west of Bordeaux.

  3. You have to go to Angers if you like wine, food, Great castle, and art.... it's a quiet peaceful town where you can go for a walk in calm.....

  4. Spend some time in the Aveyron Department in the MidPerynese region. 10 of the most beautiful villages in France are located in Aveyron. I would also make it a point to see Carcassonne.
